uShip for car haulers: how it works, what it charges, and a board with posted prices instead.

uShip is a shipping marketplace where carriers place quotes on listed shipments, cars among them, and the customer accepts one. For a car shipped within the US, uShip's published transaction fee is 15% of the booked price up to $2,000, plus 1% of anything above, and it is built into your quote. loadez is the alternative made for car haulers: its own car hauling board, where brokers and shippers post free, loads carry the poster's price, and you claim at that price with a named driver.

How uShip works for a carrier

uShip's help center files this under "Bidding". As its carrier articles describe it on 8 October 2026:

  1. Find a shipment. Carriers search the listings and filter them, or save searches.
  2. Ask questions on the listing. Questions go through the listing's Q&A, without contact details.
  3. Place a quote. You enter what you want to earn, and the quote form adds uShip's fee to show the total the customer sees. You can also set a lowest quote: uShip then underquotes other carriers for you down to that price, and requotes if the customer declines.
  4. The customer accepts or declines. On acceptance you get a booking confirmation email with the customer's contact details and the pickup and delivery locations.
  5. Haul and get paid. uShip's vehicle guide tells carriers to photograph the car at pickup and get the BOL signed at both ends. Payment is released at delivery (below).

uShip also has Book It Now, an instantly bookable price. Its carrier FAQ lists it for furniture shipments from Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

What uShip charges a carrier

uShip has no monthly subscription for carriers. It charges a transaction fee on shipments booked and completed through it, and says to include that fee in your quote. Its fee schedule for cars and light trucks shipped within the United States:

uShip TSP transaction fee, Cars & Light Trucks, US to US, listing and offer price format, effective 6 February 2023. Checked 8 October 2026.
Booked priceFee
$0 to $2,00015% of the booked price
More than $2,00015% of the first $2,000, plus 1% of the rest

So the fee on a $1,500 booking is $225, and on $2,500 it is $305. More of what uShip publishes about fees:

  • Who it is collected from. On a load posted by a shipper, uShip collects the fee from the shipper and credits it against what you owe. On a brokered load, uShip charges the fee to the carrier's payment method on file.
  • What sets it. uShip's User Agreement says origin, destination, category, customer type (shipper or broker), listing date and format decide the fee, and that the schedule may change.
  • Cancellations. One cancellation per 10 matches is free. Above 10% over 12 months, a surcharge is added to the fee. In uShip's example, a 15% cancellation rate adds 20% to the fee.
  • Withdrawals. ACH to a bank account, or an instant debit withdrawal with a 2% fee for eligible carriers.

How you get paid on uShip

On most shipments quoted at $10,000 or less, uShip requires uShip Payments. The customer pays in full at booking and releases the payment to you at delivery. It then sits in your uShip balance until you withdraw it. On quotes above $10,000, the customer pays uShip a booking deposit and pays you the rest directly, by the method you set in your quote. uShip treats asking for payment before delivery as a policy violation. What uShip asks of a carrier

  • A valid USDOT number for every carrier. uShip checks for an MC number at the same time. Without one you can register, but cannot bid in certain categories.
  • Authority for vehicles. uShip's vehicle guide says FMCSA authorization is required to haul vehicles in the US, and its terms say to bid only on what you have the authority, licensing and permits for.
  • Identity verification through Stripe: name, address, date of birth and the last four of your SSN; for a business, also its name and EIN.
  • SaferWatch monitoring for carriers with an MC number. uShip says monitored carriers get access to brokered loads and Ritchie Bros shipments in the US.
  • Insurance. uShip's carrier help pages, as read on 8 October 2026, do not list a minimum insurance amount. The federal minimum for a for-hire interstate carrier of non-hazardous property in a vehicle of 10,001 lb GVWR or more is $750,000 of liability (49 CFR 387.9). Car hauler insurance.

The alternative: a car hauling board with posted prices

loadez runs its own load board, separate from every other one, built for car haulers and auto transport carriers. Brokers and shippers post on it free. You can open the live board without an account; the broker's phone and email open after a free sign-up.

How a load is booked

  1. The load shows its price. A broker or shipper who posts a load on loadez sets the rate. There is no quote to write.
  2. Claim with a named driver. You claim at the posted price and the claim names the driver who will haul the car. If the price does not work, send your own number instead.
  3. The poster answers. The broker or shipper approves, counters or declines. A counter comes back to you to accept or let go.

On loadez, the price is on the load before you claim it.

What each load leaves you

From Growth, every load gets a score and an estimated net for your own truck: the rate minus fuel, deadhead from where the truck is, tolls, driver pay and factoring. The arithmetic, in full.

After the claim

  • Dispatch: one record per load, from the claim to the driver, the invoice and the driver's settlement.
  • On the driver's phone, on every plan: inspection photos at pickup and delivery, the BOL and the receiver's e-signature. It runs in the phone browser at app.loadez.ai, on any iPhone or Android, with nothing to install. The BOL and photos reach the broker when they are uploaded. The car hauler app.
  • Invoicing, payment reminders and receivables from Starter.
  • Autopilot on Pro: it checks new loads every minute against your floor rate, lanes, vehicle type, pickup window and minimum score, and sends the claim when one fits.

What it costs

loadez is priced by plan. The published plans carry no fee per load.

  • Free: $0 for one driver, forever. The board, dispatch, the driver app, paperwork review, compliance files and an FMCSA carrier check.
  • Starter: $39 a month per company, up to 3 drivers. Adds invoicing, receivables and team invites.
  • Growth: $49 per driver a month, from 5 driver seats. Adds the load score and net profit, tracking, document OCR and driver pay.
  • Pro: $59 per driver a month, from 5 driver seats. Adds Autopilot and fleet-wide ranking.
